REDHEAD EVENT 2013 FACT SHEET

History
(Who we are)

The Redhead Event is a non-profit educational organization run by a group of volunteer board and action members. The original event for the Guinness World’s Record was established by photographer and documentarian Anne Lindsay on July 17th, 2010 in Samammash, Washington. Anne Lindsay succeeded in gathering 890 natural redheads to the event.

Rusty Weise, one of the original 890 natural redheads who established the Guinness World’s Record for the Largest Gathering of Natural Redheads is now President of Redhead Event LLC.

Vision
(What we do)

Our vision for The Redhead Event is an annual gathering of natural redheads with the intention of breaking the Guinness World’s Record of the largest gathering of natural redheads at one event.

Our mission for The Redhead Event is to educate the public on the dangers and prevention of Melanoma, Basal Cell Carcinoma, and other skin cancers, to which redheads and fair skinned are especially susceptible.

Goals
(Why we do it)

Our goal for 2013 is to reinvigorate the Northwest event by bringing it to Pioneer Square – Portland’s Living Room, as the first of an annual event in Portland. The Event plans to gather over 1,255 participants in order to beat the Guinness World Record.

Objectives
(How we will do it)

The Event is publicized using social media channels, email distributions, and conventional media avenues such as radio, newsprint and local tribunes. The Event is also using volunteers referred to as “Red-presentatives” to distribute business cards to every redhead they encounter and asking them to become “red-cruters” for other redheads.

Target
(When and where)

The Redhead Event 2013 will take place on August 17, 2013 at Pioneer Courthouse Square, 701 SW 6th Ave.
